Barguna, July 14 (V7N) – A devastating fire broke out at the District Election Office in Barguna early this morning, causing severe damage to critical documents, furniture, and electronic equipment. The fire, which started at 7:00 AM on Monday, severely affected a room in the office's accounting section.
 
According to reports, a janitor working as usual at the office heard a noise coming from one of the rooms. Upon informing others, they arrived to find the room engulfed in flames and immediately called the Fire Service. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire.
 
The fire destroyed several vital items in the accounting room, including old voter lists, ballot boxes, computers, photocopy machines, a refrigerator, various documents, and furniture.

Md. Monir Uzzaman, the Additional District Election Officer of Barguna, confirmed the incident, stating, "The janitor heard a noise from one of the rooms and alerted others. The Fire Service responded quickly and contained the fire. Many were still asleep at the time, which is why the room was heavily affected, and other rooms were only filled with smoke."

Jahangir Ahmed, the Assistant Director of Barguna Fire Service and Civil Defense, stated, “We received the report of the fire at 7:26 AM. Our station is nearby, so we arrived quickly and brought the fire under control. The fire was confined to a single room in the accounting section and did not spread to the main storage area.”
 
Regarding the cause of the fire, he added, “We cannot comment on the origin of the fire at this stage. A thorough investigation will determine the cause.”
