Tangail, July 8 (V7N) - Members of the Tangail Sadar Upazila BNP formed a human chain Monday morning in front of the Tangail Press Club, demanding the arrest and capital punishment of those accused in the high-profile 2013 murder case of Faruk, former chairman of Dainya Union Parishad.

Speakers at the demonstration included Upazila BNP President Azgar Ali, Joint Secretary Azimuddin Biplob, and former Dainya UP Chairman Lovlu. They reiterated that Faruk, a three-time UP chairman, was brutally shot dead by what they described as “Awami terrorists” during anti-government protests in 2013, while the current government was in power. Despite the passage of time, none of the suspects have been arrested.

“We demand that the accused be brought to justice immediately,” they said. “We also call for renaming the local mini stadium in Sadar Upazila as ‘Basakhanpur Mini Stadium’ in honor of the late Faruk.”

The protest reflects persistent public demand for accountability in politically charged cases and recognition of community leaders killed during past unrest.
