Bagerhat, June 08 (V7N): Jamaat-e-Islami has officially initiated its election campaign in the Bagerhat-4 constituency (Morelganj-Sharankhola) with a significant 30-kilometer motorcade and roadshows held on Sunday. This launch follows the recent announcement of the likely schedule for the next national parliamentary elections, which are now officially expected in the first half of April 2026.
The party's campaign officially kicked off with its first roadshow in front of Morelganj Government Siraj Uddin Memorial College around 8:30 PM. The motorcade, led by Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Shahadat Hossain, then traveled approximately 30 kilometers to Sharankhola Upazila, the other part of the Bagerhat-4 constituency, where a second road meeting was conducted.
The chief guest at the roadshows was Principal Abdul Alim, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bagerhat district executive committee and the party's nominated candidate for the Morelganj-Sharankhola constituency in the upcoming national elections.
The extensive motorcade and roadshows saw participation from leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami's Morelganj Upazila, Sharankhola Upazila, Morelganj Municipality, and all unions across both upazilas, as well as representatives from affiliated organizations. This marked a robust beginning to their pre-election activities.
It is worth noting that the Supreme Court of Bangladesh recently restored the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami, clearing the path for their participation in future elections, following a decade-long ban.
