MONGLA, JUINE 06 (V7N) – The Coast Guard has implemented enhanced security and precautionary measures for both road and waterway travel in Mongla in anticipation of Eid-ul-Azha.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid, Coast Guard Media Officer (Dhaka), stated that regular patrols, as well as joint and combined operations, are being conducted to curb illegal activities and ensure safety across waterways during the holy Eid-ul-Azha period. Specifically, within the jurisdiction of Coast Guard West Zone (Mongla), which covers areas like Khulna, Rupsha, Koyra, Nalian, Mongla, Sharankhola in Bagerhat, and Kaikhali in Satkhira district, special patrols are underway. These include public awareness campaigns via miking, leaflet distribution, searches of suspicious individuals and water vessels, and scanning of passenger bags at key launch, boat, and ferry terminals to bolster public safety.
The Coast Guard is also on high alert to thwart any potential sabotage activities by miscreants, aiming to ensure the safety of passengers' boat journeys. Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid affirmed that the Coast Guard's heightened activities will continue 24 hours a day and night, extending beyond Eid-ul-Azha to maintain passenger safety on the waterways.
