UKHIA, JUNE 06 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched an operation in the deep hills of Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, on Wednesday, June 4, to rescue five individuals, including a CNG (autorickshaw) driver and passengers, who were kidnapped from the Hoaikyong-Shamlapur hill road.

Major Md. Nazmul Islam, commander of Cox's Bazar RAB-15 CPC-2 Hoaikyong Camp, confirmed that the operation took place from Wednesday morning until noon, targeting the deep hills along the Hoaikyong-Shamlapur road. The objective was to rescue the abductees, who were reportedly kidnapped last Tuesday, and to apprehend the perpetrators.

However, despite the extensive operation, no arrests were made, nor were the abductees rescued during this particular mission. Major Islam affirmed that the operation to rescue the kidnapped victims and arrest the kidnappers will continue.

It is worth noting that the abduction occurred on Tuesday morning, June 3, when a group of robbers kidnapped five people, including the CNG driver and four Rohingya individuals who were en route to buy fish from a CNG vehicle bound for Bahar Chha on the Hoaikyong-Shamlapur road.
