BAGMARA, Rajshahi. MAY 24 (V7N) – A cattle trader was killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bagmara, Rajshahi, on Saturday morning as they were transporting cows for sale.
The deceased has been identified as Sajedul Islam (32), son of Mokshed Ali from Gopalpur village in Durgapur upazila. The injured are Saiful Islam (34) from the same village and Md. Abdul Quddus (32) from Kazipur village in Bagmara.
According to Ershad Ali, a neighbor of the deceased from Gopalpur village, the three individuals were traveling from their respective areas to Dhaperhat in Bogra, a known cattle market, in a van to sell sacrificial cows. The accident occurred at the Kalibari Mor area of Bachiyapara Brindavantala village in Taherpur Municipality, Bagmara Upazila. The van overturned after its driver lost control while attempting to pass a brick-laden toli vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
Sajedul Islam fell under the overturned vehicle and sustained severe injuries. Local residents quickly rescued him and transported him to Taherpur Royal Clinic, where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
Bagmara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhidul Islam confirmed via mobile phone that the van driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. He stated that the deceased's home is in Durgapur and that the family has no complaints, requesting the body be buried. A case has been filed at the police station regarding the incident.
