Ukhiya, August 5 (V7N) – In a joint operation at the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya , the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) detained a 40-year-old Rohingya woman and seized weapons, live ammunition, and explosives-like items on Tuesday evening.
The raid took place around 6:00 p.m. at the home of Rashid Ahmed in the Registered Rohingya Camp’s Block E at Kutupalong camp. The arrested individual, Shamrani Prokash Sabu, is the daughter of Rashid Ahmed.
From her possession, the APBN recovered:
2 one-shoter guns, 8 rounds of live cartridge, 5 objects resembling explosives.
APBN confirmed detention details through Additional DIG Siraj Amin. The operation was based on confidential intelligence. Following apprehension, she was handed over to the Ukhiya Police Station and a case has been filed.
In a related incident, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Teknaf border detained Mohamad Amin of Balukhali Camp-17. He was found with a 9 mm pistol and five rounds of ammunition and confessed to carrying the weapon for illegal sale. This case has been lodged at Teknaf Model Police Station, confirmed by Lt. Col. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, commander of Ukhiya ’s 64 BGB.
Authorities warned that certain extremist groups are increasingly engaging in criminal activities—including drug trafficking, kidnapping, and violence—which threaten public order. They directed all law enforcement agencies to enhance intelligence operations, increase patrols, and conduct raids across the district to prevent such crimes.
