Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) – BNP Chairperson’s adviser and senior Supreme Court lawyer Fazlur Rahman was discharged from contempt proceedings on Monday after he offered an unconditional apology for making negative remarks about the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

The order was issued by a three-member judicial panel of Tribunal-1, headed by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder.

Fazlur Rahman appeared before the tribunal shortly after 11:00 am, accompanied by a convoy of lawyers, including senior Supreme Court advocate Zainul Abedin, Barrister Kaiser Kamal and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal.

Addressing the court, Fazlur Rahman said, “What I stated on the talk show was a slip of the tongue. After Allah, I respect the court. I apologize unconditionally.”

Considering his statement, the tribunal accepted the apology and discharged him from the contempt of court charge.
