Dhaka, Oct 07 (V7N) – The third day of interrogation of the final witness in the crimes against humanity case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three others will take place today (Tuesday) at the International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumdar.
Defense counsel for Sheikh Hasina is set to continue questioning Md. Alamgir, the chief investigation officer of the case.
On Monday, Alamgir was cross-examined throughout the day. During questioning, he clarified that Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun had agreed to testify “not under any pressure,” but rather “in the interest of uncovering the truth.”
The investigation officer also testified that in July, law enforcement agencies and government-affiliated armed groups used deadly weapons in more than 50 districts.
Over 54 witnesses have so far provided testimony in the case over the course of 25 working days. The presentation of arguments is expected to begin after the completion of the interrogation of the 54th witness.
Prosecutors have asserted that no individual involved in the July massacre will escape justice, while the eighth day of testimony in the Ashulia body cremation case is also scheduled for today.
