Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N) – Testimonies against Sheikh Hasina and three others began on Tuesday morning at Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumdar, with five individuals, including a judge, appearing to testify.
At the outset, SI Ashraful Islam was questioned by the defense lawyer appointed by the tribunal on behalf of Sheikh Hasina. Following this, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain gave his statement.
Magistrate Zakir Hossain testified that Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who later turned state witness, had provided a statement under Section 164 on March 24, describing the incidents of that day in detail.
Meanwhile, in a separate hearing at Tribunal-2, SI Tariqul Islam testified in the murder case of Abu Sayeed of Rangpur, recognized as the first martyr of the July Movement. He revealed that then-Assistant Police Commissioner Arifuzzaman had warned investigators against including in the report that Abu Sayeed had died due to police firing.
The proceedings mark a significant phase in the ongoing tribunal hearings, where key testimonies are being recorded against Sheikh Hasina and co-accused individuals.
