Sylhet, Sep 21 (V7N) – A mild earthquake, measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale, was felt in Sylhet city and nearby areas at 12:19 pm on Sunday.
According to the Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the tremor was located in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj, about 185 kilometers from Dhaka.
Residents of different parts of Sylhet reported feeling the ground shake for a few seconds. Many people rushed out of homes and offices in panic, though no casualties or damage have been reported so far.
Experts said that an earthquake of this magnitude is considered relatively mild, usually not causing significant damage. However, they warned that weak or vulnerable structures could sustain minor cracks or losses.
