Dhaka, Oct 16 (V7N)- International financial institutions, including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), have responded positively to Bangladesh’s financing needs amid ongoing global economic uncertainty, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said.
He made the remarks on Friday morning after a bilateral meeting with a delegation from the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department (APD), led by department director Krishna Srinivasan. Senior officials from both sides attended the meeting.
The finance minister said the discussions focused on the final review of several economic proposals submitted by Bangladesh.
“In principle, everything is fine with our proposals. Now, how to finally close the matter, the next steps will be taken based on a detailed review by the teams of both sides,” he said.
Referring to assessments by the IMF and the World Bank, the minister said the institutions had recognised the sensitivity and importance of Bangladesh’s overall economic situation this year.
He expressed optimism that continued support from multilateral development partners would help Bangladesh navigate international economic challenges while maintaining domestic economic growth and stability.
The discussions are expected to inform the next steps in reviewing Bangladesh’s proposals, although the final outcome will depend on further assessments by the respective teams.
