Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N)- Health Minister Sardar Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain has issued a stern warning against irregularities and corruption at hospitals, saying, “Either I stay, or the irregularities and corruption in the hospital remain.”
The Health Minister made the remarks during a surprise visit to Mugda General Hospital in the capital on Friday (September 11) afternoon.
During the visit, he inspected various departments and hospital services, including the dengue unit, and observed several irregularities in the delivery of medical services.
The minister also spoke directly with hospitalized patients and their relatives. Several patients complained that doctors were not available when needed, while others alleged that nurses on duty were uncooperative and negligent in providing services.
After hearing the complaints, Sakhawat Hossain assured the patients and their families that action would be taken against irregularities at the hospital.
He said negligence and irregularities in healthcare services would not be tolerated under any circumstances and warned that those responsible would face action.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister announced that the government has procured 4 crore doses of vaccines to prevent measles. A special vaccination campaign will begin nationwide on September 25, he said.
He also announced a three-month nationwide cleanliness campaign, scheduled to begin on September 12.
According to the minister, Prime Minister will inaugurate the cleanliness campaign at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The campaign will continue for three months as part of efforts to improve cleanliness and public health across the country.
