Dhaka, Sep 02 (V7N)- Judges may use artificial intelligence (AI) as an aid in judicial proceedings, but verdicts must ultimately be delivered based on the judges’ own discretion, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman has said.
He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the AI Governance Summer School-2026 in Ramna, Dhaka, on Wednesday morning.
The Law Minister said AI could also pose risks to judges and the justice system, particularly if the technology is misused or if judicial decisions are not delivered fairly.
He said the government plans to formulate a bill to regulate and manage the use of artificial intelligence, which will subsequently be placed before Parliament for approval.
Asaduzzaman said the government would seek to maximize the benefits of AI while ensuring that the technology is not misused.
He also said the rapid development of artificial intelligence has created new challenges for judges and the judiciary, making proper regulation and responsible use increasingly important.
