Narsingdi, Sep 02 (V7N)- BNP Standing Committee member and Local Government Minister Dr. Abdul Moin Khan has alleged that the last four national elections held under the Awami League government were “fake,” claiming that even dead people and those who did not cast votes were shown as having voted for the party.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organized to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the BNP at the Palash Upazila Modern Multipurpose Auditorium in Narsingdi on Tuesday evening.
Dr. Moin Khan said the BNP is committed to ensuring free, fair and impartial elections. He said the government would present the people with fair local government elections as a gift.
He said local government institutions would be strengthened through impartial elections at every level, from Union Parishads and Upazila Parishads to municipalities, city corporations and district councils.
The BNP leader also said his party does not engage in politics solely to gain power, but works for the welfare of the people.
He said the Prime Minister is pursuing politics while maintaining good relations with countries around the world, claiming that the benefits of such relations would ultimately reach the country’s people.
The meeting was chaired by Palash Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar. Upazila BNP General Secretary Saiful Haque and leaders of various party organizations also addressed the event.
