Dhaka, Jul 20 (V7N)- Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged city corporations to prioritize, test and implement locally developed technologies for mosquito control.
He made the remarks while joining an online session at an event titled “Mosquito Control Technology”, organized by Youth to World at the Engineers Institution in Ramna, Dhaka, on Monday (July 20) afternoon.
The minister said that the chemicals currently being used for mosquito control have not been very effective. However, he expressed optimism about new technologies involving locally developed chemical solutions.
Mirza Fakhrul said controlling mosquito larvae should be the main focus during the current season, particularly amid concerns over dengue and chikungunya.
He added that proper experimental evaluation of newly developed technologies could make joint initiatives between city corporations and innovators more effective in reducing mosquito-related health risks.
The minister emphasized the importance of adopting practical and effective solutions through cooperation between government agencies, researchers and local innovators.
