Dhaka, Jul 16 (V7N)- Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan has said that the spirit of the July Uprising will serve as a guiding force in strengthening democracy and building a prosperous Bangladesh.

He made the remarks after laying wreaths at the mass graves of the July martyrs at the Rayerbazar Martyred Intellectuals Memorial Cemetery in the capital on Thursday (July 16) morning, marking July Martyrs' Day.

The minister said the July movement achieved success through the sacrifices of martyrs, including Abu Sayed and Shaheed Wasim, whose deaths on July 16 inspired people from all walks of life to join the movement.

He added that the uprising ultimately led to the downfall of what he described as fascist rule.

Ahmed Azam Khan said the nation would remember the significance of July 16 for generations to come and reaffirmed the government's commitment to advancing the country with the ideals of the July Uprising.

He also pledged that the government would continue working with people from all sectors of society to uphold the spirit of July and strengthen democratic values across the country.
