Dhaka, Jul 09 (V7N)- Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain has reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring universal access to quality primary healthcare, saying the expansion and improvement of basic health services remain a top priority.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion titled "Expansion of Primary Healthcare in Urban Areas" at a hotel in the capital on Thursday morning.
The minister said the government is working to improve healthcare services at the upazila level, with particular emphasis on strengthening primary care and making essential medical services more accessible to people across the country.
He announced that kidney dialysis services are being introduced at the upazila level to bring specialized treatment closer to patients and reduce the need for long-distance travel to major cities.
Sardar Sakhawat Hossain also said the government is working closely with international organizations, development partners and donor agencies to further enhance the quality of public healthcare services.
"Our goal is to ensure that no one loses their life due to a lack of treatment," the minister said, adding that the government is expanding healthcare coverage and improving service delivery throughout the country.
He further announced plans to expand ambulance services in remote and underserved areas to facilitate the timely transportation of critically ill patients to advanced medical centers.
The minister said these initiatives form part of the government's broader efforts to build a more accessible, efficient and inclusive healthcare system for all citizens.
