Dhaka, Jul 06 (V7N) — Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has called for bringing the entire population of Bangladesh under digital services without delay, saying there is no alternative to technology in ensuring inclusive development and efficient public service delivery.

He made the remarks while addressing the Innovation Showcase organized by the Ministry of Finance at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.

The finance minister said the government has decided to accelerate digitalization across all sectors and stressed that every citizen—including workers, day labourers and farmers—must be brought under the digital ecosystem.

He said inclusiveness should not be limited to the economy alone but must also be reflected in the delivery of public services. According to him, every government service should be made easily accessible at the people's doorstep to enhance national productivity.

"If citizens can receive services from their homes, it will save both time and money," he said, adding that simply implementing development projects is not enough; the government must also ensure that people are informed about and able to benefit from those initiatives.

Amir Khasru further said digitalization should be expanded across all sectors, including the stock market and insurance industry, to increase transparency and help prevent corruption.

Earlier at the event, five institutions under the Financial Institutions Division were recognized for their technological innovations. The award recipients were Janata Bank PLC, Probashi Kalyan Bank, the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority, the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, and the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
