Hakimpur, May 30 (V7N) — Social Welfare Minister Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain has said that the BNP-led government remains committed to standing beside the people and fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign.
He made the remarks while addressing an Eid-ul-Azha greeting exchange programme organized by the Hakimpur Upazila Administration on Friday afternoon.
“We promised the people before the election that if they placed their trust in us, we would always stand by them in times of need. We are striving to keep that promise and are continuing our efforts in that direction,” the minister said.
Dr. Zahid also called upon journalists to play a constructive role in rebuilding society by helping create public awareness through responsible reporting, writing and visual storytelling.
“The country will benefit if journalists contribute to shaping positive public opinion through accurate news, photographs and thoughtful reporting,” he added.
Referring to the 45th martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman, to be observed on May 30, the minister prayed for the eternal peace and forgiveness of Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The programme was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer (Additional Duty) Tanjina Khatun. Among others present were Assistant Superintendent of Police (Birampur Circle) Haresh Uddin, Hakimpur Upazila BNP President Ferdous Rahman, General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain, local political leaders, government officials and community representatives.
