Dhaka, Apr 20 (V7N) — A nationwide measles vaccination campaign has been officially inaugurated by Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain at Zinda Park on Monday morning.

Target population

The campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 18 million children aged between 6 months and 59 months. Vaccinations will be administered daily from 8:00 am at both permanent and temporary centers, except weekends.

The program will cover 18 districts, including 30 upazilas and 4 city corporations.

Campaign schedule

  • First phase (started April 5): continues until April 25

  • Second phase (started April 12): continues until May 12

  • City corporation areas: campaign runs until May 20

  • Other areas: campaign continues until May 12

Health advisory

The Directorate General of Health Services has advised that children who are currently sick or have a fever should wait until they recover before receiving the vaccine.

Public health importance

Health authorities emphasized that this campaign is essential to prevent the spread of Measles and to strengthen immunity among children nationwide. Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure timely vaccination for their children.
