Dhaka, Mar 24 (V7N) – Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the government will take all necessary steps to uphold the original spirit of the July Uprising and fulfill the aspirations of students and the general public.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters on Tuesday morning before attending the first meeting of a special committee at the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament Building.
The Home Minister said the government would formally recognize those who took part in the movement by granting them indemnity or immunity and referring to them as “July fighters.”
He emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring that the outcomes of the July Uprising are reflected in policy decisions and governance.
Meanwhile, Md. Mujibur Rahman, senior Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, said his party would prioritize ordinances aligned with public expectations stemming from the July movement.
However, he warned that Jamaat would strongly oppose any ordinance that contradicts the Constitution or goes against public interest.
The special committee meeting is expected to review and discuss key policy measures and ordinances related to the political developments following the July Uprising.
