Dhaka, Mar 08 (V7N) – Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Sardar and Dr. M. A. Muhith made a surprise visit to the National Mental Health Hospital on Sunday morning, uncovering several irregularities.

During the inspection, the ministers observed dirty beds, cockroaches, bedbugs, and an overall unhygienic environment at the hospital.

The Health Minister criticized the responsible authorities, saying that those accountable “are not fulfilling their responsibilities properly.”

State Minister Dr. M. A. Muhith noted that despite being the country’s highest mental health institution, the hospital suffers from a leadership crisis and mismanagement.

Md. Sakhawat Hossain assured that the issues will be resolved quickly, emphasizing that the hospital should provide a more humane environment than other hospitals in the country.
