Jeddah, Feb 27 (V7N) – Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman held an emergency meeting with top foreign-minister-level leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the Palestine issue.
The meeting took place at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
Among those present were Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Walid Elkhrezi, representatives from Türkiye, and the Chairperson of the Executive Steering Committee and Gambia’s Foreign Minister Tsering Modu.
During the discussions, participating leaders congratulated the BNP on its electoral victory in Bangladesh and expressed optimism that political stability and development would follow under the new leadership. They also voiced hope that Bangladesh would maintain its longstanding position on the Palestine issue.
The OIC leaders further extended support for Bangladesh’s candidacy for the presidency of the United Nations General Assembly (81st session).
The election for the position is scheduled to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York on June 2, where Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman will contest on behalf of Bangladesh.
