Dhaka, Feb 25 (V7N)- Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali has resigned from his position as Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), citing personal and family reasons. His resignation letter was reportedly sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday afternoon.
Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali had been appointed as DMP Commissioner on a contractual basis on November 20, 2024, for a two-year term, which was scheduled to end on November 21, 2026. However, he stepped down before completing his tenure.
The resignation comes a day after the appointment of Ali Hossain Fakir as the new IGP of Bangladesh Police, signaling ongoing reorganization within the police and administration under the new government.
Rumors of a new appointment for the post of DMP Commissioner had been circulating in recent weeks, amid broader restructuring of key administrative and law enforcement positions.
Authorities are expected to announce a replacement soon.
