Dhaka, Feb 25 (V7N)- The government is working to provide quick relief to city residents from the growing mosquito menace, Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said on Wednesday.
The minister made the remarks while visiting the Dhalpur area of the capital in the morning to inspect the effectiveness of mosquito-control medicines being used by the South City Corporation and review field activities.
He said several samples of the imported insecticide have already been collected and their effectiveness will be tested soon. If the results are unsatisfactory, alternative measures will be taken, although he expressed optimism that the medicine would prove effective.
Highlighting the public health risk, the minister stressed that combating dengue has been given the highest priority, noting that coordinated efforts are underway to strengthen prevention and control measures across the city.
Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain also called on citizens to cooperate with government initiatives, saying that joint efforts between authorities and the public are essential to make the anti-mosquito campaign successful.
Authorities say intensified surveillance, testing of control methods, and community participation will remain key components of the ongoing drive to curb mosquito-borne diseases.
