Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N)- The first session of the 13th National Parliament of Bangladesh will commence on March 12 at 11:00 am in the National Parliament Chamber, according to a press release from the Public Relations Department of the National Parliament Secretariat.

The session has been called by Md. Shahabuddin, President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, under the powers granted by clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution.

As customary, the President will deliver a speech highlighting the government’s achievements and future development plans. This will be followed by a general discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s speech.

A total of 297 members of parliament, who won in the 13th National Parliament elections, have already taken the oath and completed other formalities. The session will formally begin its proceedings with the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
