Dhaka, Feb 20 (V7N)- Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has said that there is no security threat surrounding the observance of International Mother Language Day.

He made the statement while speaking at a press conference held at the Central Shaheed Minar on Friday morning.

The DMP Commissioner said that multi-layered security measures have been taken to ensure safety during the observance of the day and the paying of tributes at the Shaheed Minar. He added that around 15,000 police personnel will be deployed as part of the security arrangements.

He also requested members of the public to use the Palashi intersection and Jagannath Hall crossing routes while coming to pay their respects.

“For security reasons, there will be restrictions on public entry to the University of Dhaka area after this evening,” he added.
