Dhaka, Feb 19 (V7N) — State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid has said that Bangladesh will maintain relations with all countries while firmly protecting its national interests.
She made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a meeting with officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
Focus on National Interest
Shama Obaid said Bangladesh’s diplomatic approach will be guided by the mandate of the people and the need to safeguard the country’s interests.
“Our goal is to protect the interests of Bangladesh, and we will have relations with everyone by protecting the interests of the country,” she said.
She noted that the country’s position on the global stage has strengthened in recent times and stressed the importance of moving forward with confidence. According to her, Bangladesh should now be viewed from a “different perspective,” while maintaining communication and cooperation with all nations.
Visa Issues Under Review
Addressing concerns over visa complications faced by Bangladeshi citizens in various countries, the state minister said the matter is receiving priority attention.
She added that efforts are underway to resolve visa-related problems as quickly as possible to ease travel and mobility.
Shama Obaid reiterated that the government aims to pursue a balanced foreign policy, navigating challenges with different countries while ensuring Bangladesh’s sovereignty and interests remain paramount.
