Dhaka, Jan 05 (V7N)- The appeal process against the cancellation of candidatures in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election begins today. According to the Election Commission (EC), the nomination papers of 723 candidates were canceled across the country by the end of the scrutiny process.
The scrutiny of nomination papers concluded at 5:00 pm on Sunday (January 4). Following the review, a total of 1,842 nomination papers were declared valid nationwide.
To facilitate the appeal process, the Election Commission has set up 10 regional booths at the Election Building in Agargaon. Appeals can be filed with the EC until 5:00 pm on January 9 by candidates themselves, or by banks or financial institutions, government service providers, or any person authorized in writing by the candidate.
The EC has announced that all appeals filed against the acceptance or cancellation of nomination papers will be heard and resolved between January 10 and January 18.
The completion of this process will determine the final list of candidates for the parliamentary election, paving the way for the formal campaign phase.
