Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) — Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen has expressed support for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s 'Bangladesh First' foreign policy, assuring that all forms of cooperation will continue to safeguard Bangladesh's sovereignty.

The ambassador made the remarks after meeting Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday afternoon. During the meeting, discussions covered all areas of bilateral cooperation, including the Teesta water-sharing project, as well as broader issues like Bangladesh-China relations and the Rohingya crisis.

While Ambassador Yao expressed optimism regarding the implementation of the Teesta project, he did not provide a clear stance on the new government’s position. He emphasized that China’s engagement is aimed at benefiting all people in the region, and criticized the interference of third countries in regional matters.

The ambassador also confirmed that China has invited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for a visit and expressed hope that the trip would take place soon, highlighting China’s desire to work with Bangladesh for a stable and cooperative government.
