Dhaka, Sept 2 (V7N) – Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to Bangladesh's interim government, has begun formal meetings with political parties and civil society organizations as part of an initiative to build consensus ahead of the upcoming national election.
According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the dialogue began at 5 PM on Tuesday at the state guest house Jamuna in Dhaka. Representatives from seven political parties and one civil organization participated in the meeting, which is aimed at fostering inclusive political engagement during the country’s transitional period.
The participating groups include Nagorik Oikya, Gono Odhikar Parishad, Gono Oikko Andolon , Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Jatiya Ganatantrik Front, and Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh.
Officials from the Chief Adviser’s office stated that the meetings are part of a broader effort to ensure a fair, peaceful, and participatory electoral environment. More dialogue sessions with other political parties, civil society actors, and professional bodies are expected to follow in the coming days.
The initiative comes amid growing national and international interest in how Bangladesh’s caretaker government plans to manage the upcoming election cycle following the political unrest and mass demonstrations earlier this year.
