Dhaka, Jun 25 (V7N)- State Minister for Health Dr. M. A. Muhith has announced that the first round of the nationwide Vitamin A Plus Campaign will be held on June 28, with approximately 24 million children set to receive Vitamin A capsules across the country in a single day.
He made the announcement during a briefing at the Secretariat on Thursday (June 25).
The State Minister said that children aged between six and eleven months will receive blue Vitamin A capsules, while children aged 12 to 59 months will be provided with red Vitamin A capsules as part of the campaign.
He added that children who are unable to receive the capsules on the campaign day will have the opportunity to collect them the following day from their respective Upazila Health Complexes.
According to Dr. Muhith, Vitamin A supplementation is recommended twice a year to help protect children from vitamin deficiencies and related health complications. Following the June campaign, the second round of the Vitamin A Plus Campaign is scheduled to take place in December.
The State Minister also said that special arrangements have been made to reach children living in remote and hard-to-access areas. Vaccination and supplementation activities in those regions will continue for four additional days after June 28.
To ensure wider coverage, the government has planned more than 500 mobile campaign units in addition to regular vaccination and health service centers. These mobile units will operate at key public locations, including launch terminals, bus stations, and other high-traffic areas.
Health authorities have urged parents and guardians to bring eligible children to the nearest campaign center and ensure they receive the life-saving Vitamin A supplements.
