Dhaka, Nov 18 (V7N) - Diplomats from 27 European nations, stationed in both Dhaka and New Delhi, are set to convene in Dhaka to meet Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, marking a significant gesture of support for his interim government and fostering enhanced economic collaboration with Bangladesh.
In a televised address to the nation on Sunday evening, Prof. Yunus remarked, "Never before have 27 ambassadors from the European Union come together to discuss with the government." He highlighted the meeting as an opportunity to deepen economic cooperation and reaffirm the EU's commitment to Bangladesh.
The group will comprise 20 ambassadors stationed in New Delhi and seven based in Dhaka. The New Delhi-based diplomats are expected to arrive in Dhaka in the coming days to join their counterparts for the discussions.
Several ambassadors who have already met with Prof. Yunus in Dhaka emphasized their governments' commitment to supporting the interim administration. The diplomats are reportedly working on a new framework to assist Bangladesh's government in achieving its goals.
Ambassadors from nations including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, Finland, Singapore, and Libya have also met with Prof. Yunus, offering assurances of increased trade, investment, and bilateral cooperation.
Prof. Yunus underscored the significance of these engagements, stating, "The ambassadors who are based in Delhi have come from Delhi to meet me."
The meeting signals robust international support for Bangladesh's interim leadership and its efforts to stabilize and advance the nation’s economy.
