Habiganj, Aug 28 (V7N) – Two people lost their lives in separate tragic incidents early on Wednesday morning in Madhabpur municipality and on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in Habiganj district.
In the first incident, a 24-year-old bakery worker named Qari Md. Mosharraf Miah died after being electrocuted while on duty around 6:00 AM in Madhabpur municipality. Police sources confirmed that he came into contact with a live wire while arranging goods on a delivery van owned by his uncle. In a separate but coinciding incident around the same time, a speeding pickup van struck and killed 40-year-old mosque imam Monir Mollah on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in the Shibpur area. Monir, the son of Benu Mia from Shibpur village under Baghasura Union, was returning home from his workplace at Sundarpur Jame Mosque on a bicycle when the accident occurred. Locals recovered the body and handed it over to his family, who completed the burial later in the day.

Meanwhile, OC Shuvra Ranjan Chakma of Shayestaganj Highway Police confirmed the road accident and stated that the body was handed over to the family on humanitarian grounds.
These back-to-back tragedies have cast a shadow of grief over the local communities, highlighting both the risks of occupational hazards and road safety concerns.
