Gloucestershire, Oct 02 (V7N)- British police have arrested a 27-year-old British-Iranian national in connection with a security breach at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, according to reports.

The man, who holds dual British and Iranian citizenship, was arrested in the Westminster area of central London. Security forces also carried out searches at two other locations in the area.

British authorities had earlier announced plans to question a second individual as part of the investigation, according to Qatar-based media outlet Al J azeera.

Meanwhile, five people previously arrested over suspected plans to sabotage the airbase remain on bail. The five suspects are all British citizens and residents of London.

A major security operation was launched on Sunday, September 27, after three suspicious vehicles were reportedly seen travelling towards RAF Fairford, a US Air Force-operated base in Gloucestershire.

Police subsequently arrested five people in connection with the incident . They were released on bail the following day as the investigation continued.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed further details about the alleged security breach or the nature of the suspected sabotage plot.
