Tel Aviv, Sep 06 (V7N)- Protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government were held at several locations across northern Israel on Saturday (September 5), Israeli media reported, according to Anadolu Agency.
Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that protesters gathered in several locations to voice their opposition to various policies and allegations involving Netanyahu's government.
According to Israel's Channel 12, demonstrations were held in areas including Nahariya, Rosh Pina, Karmiel, Hadera and Haifa.
Netanyahu's government has faced sustained domestic opposition over a range of political and legal issues. In early 2023, the government introduced judicial reforms aimed at reducing the powers of the Supreme Court and increasing political influence over the appointment of judges. The proposals triggered widespread protests across Israel.
Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024 over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to Israel's military campaign in Gaza. Netanyahu is also facing a corruption trial in Israel.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, at least 73,651 Palestinians have been killed and 174,575 injured in Israel's military offensive in Gaza since October 2023.
