Tehran, Sep 03 (V7N)- Iran has claimed that it laid additional naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, while mocking US assertions that Washington has control over the strategic waterway.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said in a post on X that additional naval mines were deployed during an operation on Wednesday night in what he described as unauthorized shipping passages south of the Strait of Hormuz.
Zolfaghari also mocked US President Donald Trump’s reported proposal to rename the waterway the “Trump Strait.”
He said the only way the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, could rename the Strait of Hormuz was through Photoshop.
Zolfaghari further joked that Washington could use the same method to make oil tankers appear to pass through the strategic waterway.
The remarks came amid heightened tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and energy shipments.
