New Delhi, Jul 24 (V7N)- Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has called for building an education system that values honesty and hard work over shortcuts, amid growing concerns over question paper leak incidents affecting students.
In a message shared on his verified Facebook page on Thursday (July 23), Tendulkar reflected on a life lesson taught by his father, who was a professor and mentor to many students.
"My father was a professor. He was a teacher and guide to many students. He taught me one lesson from a young age - 'Failure can be accepted, but cheating is not. Never take shortcuts,'" Sachin wrote.
The cricket icon stressed that it is the responsibility of adults to foster a culture where dedication and integrity are appreciated more than examination results. He warned that when society places excessive importance on outcomes alone, people are more likely to seek shortcuts instead of earning success through merit.
Tendulkar acknowledged the disappointment felt by students whose hard work is undermined by incidents such as question paper leaks. He said it is the collective responsibility of society to ensure that such situations do not occur again.
Highlighting the aspirations of India's younger generation, he said the country's youth are filled with dreams, hope and determination. He added that parents, teachers, friends, relatives, educational institutions and the administration all have a shared responsibility to protect their future and maintain their confidence.
Calling for a stronger culture of honesty and fairness, Tendulkar said society must encourage integrity, reward hard work and ensure that talent prevails over dishonest practices.
Concluding his message on an optimistic note, the legendary cricketer expressed confidence that collective efforts would help find lasting solutions to strengthen the future of students and safeguard their dreams.
