Tehran, 17 Jul (V7N)- Iran has declared that it will not allow the United States to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the waterway as an “irreversible red line” for the country amid escalating regional tensions.
The warning was issued by Ibrahim Zulfiqari, spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, in a statement addressing the security situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a report by Anadolu Agency, citing Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Zulfiqari accused the United States of undermining Iran's security through continued military actions and said Tehran would not tolerate any U.S. interference in the strategic waterway.
“The Strait of Hormuz is Iran's irreversible red line,” he said, warning that any attempt by Washington to intervene in the area would be met with a strong response.
Zulfiqari also warned that if U.S. forces target Iranian infrastructure, Iran would retaliate by striking regional infrastructure. The remarks come as military tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to rise following renewed exchanges of attacks across the Middle East.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical energy transit routes, and continued instability in the area has heightened concerns over regional security and global energy supplies.
