Agra, May 25 (V7N)- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Monday (May 25) as part of his ongoing four-day official tour of India.
Rubio was accompanied by his wife, Janet Dosdebes Rubio, during the visit to the iconic 17th-century Mughal-era monument in Uttar Pradesh. The couple toured the historic site, observed its architectural features, and took photographs in front of the world-famous structure, widely regarded as a symbol of love and heritage.
The visit comes shortly after Rubio arrived in India on Saturday (May 23), marking his first official trip to the country since assuming office as US Secretary of State. Earlier in the tour, he also visited Kolkata and is scheduled to travel to Jaipur and New Delhi in the coming days.
Diplomatic observers note that the visit comes at a time of evolving geopolitical dynamics in South Asia, with ongoing discussions around trade policy, regional security, and shifting US engagement with countries including Pakistan and China. Analysts say the trip is aimed at reinforcing strategic ties between Washington and New Delhi.
Rubio is expected to meet senior Indian government officials during his visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
