Vienna, Apr 27 (V7N)– Russia’s representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, has said that blackmail and ultimatums will not be effective in peace negotiations with Iran.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ulyanov criticized the approach of the United States, stating that Washington is accustomed to conducting diplomacy through displays of power, military pressure, and threats of sanctions. However, he stressed that such tactics cannot be used to advance dialogue with Tehran.

“If the United States truly wants to move toward a diplomatic solution, it should stop making threats,” the Russian diplomat said.

Ulyanov further noted that constructive engagement is the only viable path forward under the current circumstances. He advised Washington to abandon what he described as three ineffective strategies—blackmail, ultimatums, and rigid deadlines—in favor of meaningful negotiations.

His remarks come amid ongoing international tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program and efforts to revive diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Western powers.
