Washington, Apr 24 (V7N) — The ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended for another three weeks following a meeting with representatives from both sides.

The announcement came after talks held at the White House, where Donald Trump described the discussions as productive.

Trump calls it a “historic moment”

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the meeting in the Oval Office “went very well” and termed the extension of the ceasefire a “very historic moment.”

He added that he is looking forward to hosting:

  • Benjamin Netanyahu

  • Joseph Aoun

at the White House in the near future.

US pledges support

The US president also pledged that the United States would:

  • Provide full support to Lebanon

  • Help advance ongoing peace efforts

  • Assist in restoring stability in southern Lebanon

Outlook

The extension of the ceasefire is seen as a crucial step in preventing further escalation, while diplomatic efforts continue to seek a longer-term resolution between the two countries.
