Islamabad, Apr 10 (V7N)– Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has deleted a controversial social media post criticizing Israel following strong international backlash, according to The Times of Israel.

The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday (April 9), described Israel as a “curse on humanity” and a “cancerous state.” It quickly drew criticism from various quarters, including the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which strongly condemned the remarks.

In the now-deleted post, Asif referred to ongoing geopolitical tensions, writing, “While peace talks are underway in Islamabad, a massacre is taking place in Lebanon.” He also mentioned conflicts involving Gaza and Iran, claiming that “the bloodshed because of Israel seems to be unstoppable.”

The statement further escalated in tone, with Asif expressing harsh criticism of Israel’s creation, which intensified the controversy.

Observers noted that such remarks could raise questions about Pakistan’s potential role as a mediator in diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Iran.

Following the backlash, the Pakistani defence minister removed the post from his social media account. No official clarification has yet been issued regarding the deletion.
