Washington, April 09 (V7N) — Donald Trump has warned that the United States could resume military strikes against Iran if Tehran fails to comply with the terms of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Speaking on Wednesday, Trump said that US military ships, aircraft, and personnel—along with additional weapons and ammunition—will remain deployed in and around Iran to ensure adherence to the agreement.
He cautioned that any violation by Tehran would trigger “another big, terrible and powerful” round of military action.
Meanwhile, Iran signaled reluctance to proceed with negotiations on a long-term peace deal under current conditions. Officials in Iran stated that advancing talks would be unreasonable in the aftermath of a recent attack by Israel on Lebanon, which reportedly resulted in hundreds of casualties.
Significant disagreements also persist between the two sides over Iran’s nuclear program. Trump claimed that Iran has agreed to halt uranium enrichment. However, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Tehran retains the right to continue uranium enrichment under the current ceasefire terms.
The developments highlight ongoing tensions and uncertainty surrounding efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement in the region.
