Washington, Mar 23 (V7N) – The United States has signaled that its ongoing military operations targeting Iran’s strategic positions will continue until key defense installations in the Strait of Hormuz are fully dismantled.
In an interview with NBC News, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that weakening Iran’s defensive capabilities in the vital waterway remains the primary objective of the operation.
He emphasized that the campaign would persist until Iran’s defense bases in the Strait of Hormuz are completely destroyed, underscoring Washington’s firm stance amid escalating regional tensions.
Bessent also noted that Donald Trump is employing strong and direct language in the ongoing conflict, which he said Tehran is expected to clearly understand.
Addressing the possibility of deploying US troops to secure control over the Strait, he said that “all options remain on the table,” indicating that further escalation cannot be ruled out.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical transit routes, making it a focal point of global geopolitical and economic concerns.
The latest remarks highlight the intensifying standoff between Washington and Tehran, raising fears of broader instability in the region.
