Baghdad, Mar 17 (V7N) – Drone and rocket attacks struck the US embassy in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in what Iraqi security sources described as the “most intense” assault in recent times.

The embassy had issued a new security alert for US citizens in Iraq approximately six hours before the attacks, warning that Iranian-backed armed groups have repeatedly targeted Baghdad's Green Zone, the heavily fortified district housing government and diplomatic facilities.

No immediate information was available regarding casualties or damage. Security forces are reportedly investigating the attacks and increasing protective measures in and around the Green Zone.
