Washington, Mar 13 (V7N) – Two sailors were injured in a fire aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest and most advanced aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, the US military said on Thursday (March 12).

According to a statement from US Central Command (Centcom) posted on the social media platform X, the fire broke out in the ship’s main laundry area. Authorities confirmed that the incident was not related to combat operations.

The statement said the ship’s propulsion plant and engine units were not damaged, and the aircraft carrier remains fully operational. The two injured sailors are currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.

The USS Gerald R. Ford is one of the most modern warships in the US Navy and has been deployed in the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Military sources said the vessel has recently changed its location for strategic reasons while continuing its operational duties.
