Abu Dhabi, Mar 11 (V7N) – The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense has said its air defense systems detected nine ballistic missiles and 35 drones launched by Iran on Tuesday. The development was reported by the BBC.
According to the ministry, eight of the nine ballistic missiles were intercepted, while the remaining missile fell into the sea. Authorities also reported that 26 of the 35 drones were shot down, while nine drones landed on Emirati territory.
The ministry stated that since the escalation of hostilities, a total of 262 ballistic missiles have been launched from Iran toward the United Arab Emirates, of which 241 have been intercepted. In addition, 1,475 drones have been used in attacks, with 1,385 successfully destroyed by the country’s defense systems.
Officials confirmed that six people have been killed in the attacks so far. The victims include Emirati, Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationals.
The defense ministry added that the country remains on high alert to counter any threat that could undermine national security and said necessary measures will continue to be taken to protect the UAE’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
