Islamabad, Dec 16 (V7N) — The Pakistan Navy conducted a drill in the Arabian Sea, firing an FM-90 surface-to-air missile, the naval variant of China’s HQ-17 missile system, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.

According to the ISPR, the missile is designed to destroy aerial targets with high efficiency. It has an approximate range of 15 kilometers and can reach a maximum altitude of 6 kilometers above sea level.

The ISPR statement added that such short-range missiles are typically used to intercept fast-moving targets that attempt to penetrate air defense systems, enhancing the Navy’s operational readiness and aerial defense capabilities.
